James Wan shares new photo of Amber Heard as Mera in Aquaman

May 19 (UPI) -- Director James Wan shared on Twitter Tuesday a new photo of Amber Heard as underseas queen Mera from the set of Aquaman.

"Lady MERA swept in from the sea. First day with the exquisite Amber Heard," the filmmaker wrote alongside the image that features the actress in full costume of Aquaman's love interest.

The skintight, bright green outfit's look is taken straight from the comics and notably features Aquaman's "A" symbol located on her stomach. The photo is the second time Heard has been seen in costume as the character after Zack Snyder debuted the look in October from the set of Justice League.

Heard's Justice League attire, however, differs from her look in Aquaman as it featured more armor and a crown.

In May, the 31-year-old shared a behind-the-scenes photo of herself getting ready to portray Mera in the makeup chair while she read an issue of Aquaman writing, "Over a year of prep, 6 months of training, & countless hrs of denying myself pleasure, aka donuts, has led to this moment: Day 1. #Aquaman."

Aquaman starring Jason Momoa in the lead role, swims into theaters Dec. 21, 2018. Before that, Momoa and Heard will appear in Justice League which is set for release on Nov. 17.

The all-star cast of Aquaman includes Patrick Wilson as Aquaman's half-brother Orm, also known as the villainous Ocean Master, Willem Dafoe as Aquaman's adviser, Dr. Vulko, Nicole Kidman as Aquaman's mother, The Get Down's Yahya Abdul-Mateen II as signature antagonist Black Manta and Power Rangers star Ludi Lin as ally Murk.

Dolph Lundgren also signed onto the project to play King Nereus of the aquatic kingdom of Xebel who wants to kill Aquaman and claim Mera as his own.
