Watch: Grayson Allen pushes Florida State assistant coach, leaves game

TALLAHASSEE, Fla., Jan. 11 (UPI) -- Xavier Rathan-Mayes has "been waiting a long time" to see Grayson Allen again.

The two reunited Tuesday, when Florida State trounced Duke 88-72 at the Donald L. Tucker Center. A year ago, Allen notoriously tripped Rathan-Mayes. He has since been stripped of his captaincy and "indefinitely" suspended for one game as the result of several other tripping incidents.

After tripping up another player Sunday in Duke's win against Boston College, Allen is in the spotlight again for a fall into the stands.

During the second half of the Blue Devils' loss, Allen chased a loose ball into the stands. After swatting the ball back into play, he landed on the Florida State coaching staff. Allen appeared to extend both arms forcefully into Seminoles assistant coach Dennis Gates during the fall, before pushing off. He left the game with a head injury.

"This one was personal," Rathan-Mayes told reporters after the game. "Ever since he did that, I've been waiting a long time to see him again and it was good to finally see him again. Grayson Allen is the head of the snake—where he goes, they go. I wanted to frustrate him and make him second-guess and it kind of kick-started our offense."

Rathan-Mayes scored 21 points in the win, with 18 points in the second half. Allen scored nine points, before leaving with 5:36 remaining in the game.

Duke [14-3] travels for its next game at noon Saturday, Jan. 14 against Louisville at the KFC Yum! Center. It will be another rematch of Allen's foes as he faces Ray Spalding, the Cardinals player he tripped last February.
